Entrepreneurship education for university students and the next generation
It is as if we are gently handing a compass to a ship full of children who are embarking on an adventure into the future. With this in mind, we hope to sow the seeds of entrepreneurship education so that children can firmly grasp the compass for the future in today's era of waves of change. Entrepreneurship education is not just about nurturing entrepreneurs; it is about fostering the ability to think and act independently in response to any social change. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) recognizes the importance of this education and is promoting it, but there are still many issues to be addressed in this education that has just begun. Therefore, we would like to create a new educational program for elementary, middle, and high school students with the help of “college students who have learned entrepreneurship. We want university students to learn more by passing on what they have learned to the next generation. And we want elementary, middle, and high school students to feel more familiar with entrepreneurship through interaction with university students, and to develop hope for the future by learning and growing. And by disseminating this activity widely, we hope to make more people aware of and involved in entrepreneurship education. We want to move forward, one step at a time, for the future of our children. Why don't you join us and start doing what you can to sow the seeds for the future? Entrepreneurship education” is generally viewed as a course on business, economics, and management aimed at a specific group of people in order to create entrepreneurs. However, “entrepreneurship” is considered to be “the ability and feeling to see change as an opportunity, to act on one's own initiative, and to create value. This is different from “business education” that simply creates businesses, and in today's rapidly changing world, it is considered a necessary skill for all people. Entrepreneurship education began in 2014 with a project called the “EDGE Program” by the MEXT. In 2023, the EDGE-PRIME Initiative will begin, expanding the entrepreneurship education that began at universities to elementary, junior high, and senior high schools. Entrepreneurship education is being introduced to elementary and junior high school students in off-campus social education settings, and to high school students in comprehensive inquiry classes. Opportunities for entrepreneurship education are expanding, but there are still many possibilities. For elementary and junior high school students, there are many things that can be done, such as introducing, developing, and spreading entrepreneurship education in school education, developing programs for teachers, etc. For high school students, there are many things that can be done, such as providing more advanced programs, collaborating with the community, and addressing the shortage of support personnel. There is also a growing number of startups that are solving these issues, and there is growing momentum to spread entrepreneurship education through collaboration among industry, government, and academia. We would like to create a new entrepreneurship education program for elementary, junior high, and high school students together with university students who have received entrepreneurship education. University students who have experienced entrepreneurship education themselves will fully demonstrate their abilities and provide new experiences that will change the very nature of education for elementary, junior high, and high school students. We hope that university students will also have the opportunity to grow through this experience and become entrepreneurs themselves. Let's work together to create an entrepreneurship education program that will enable all people to take the initiative, exercise their creativity, and live their lives in their own way!

Healthcare Superplatform
Currenty public healthcare service apps are very limited due to the lack of ability to utilize user’s personal data and 3rd party integrations. We are missing lots of efficiency and personalization due to the rigidness and basic digitalization of the healthcare services. There are lots of good but separated data hubs (like kanta.fi) where the information exists, but it is not used for our benefit. What if we could build a superplatform for Finnish public healthcare users, aka citizens? How might we aggregate personal, medical and lifestyle data from the public healthcare sector, 3rd party service providers and users themselves to build new kinds of value propositions for the citizens? Which would be the first simple use cases where the public healthcare sector and 3rd party service providers could offer extremely good service for the citizens? In this project we aim to build use cases and demonstrate those through simple apps and user interfaces. We are looking for people interested in software engineering, data sciences, healthcare, service design and UX.

VIP Event Experience
Event experience is extremely standardized nowadays. Everyone who buys a ticket gets same experience during the event. 5G Advanced and 6G positioning paired with “superplatform” of personal information could be used to tailer event experience to another level. What if you don’t have to show your ticket to anyone, but the gates recognize you and you can just walk in? What if the bartender at the venue knows already what you would like to drink? The opportunities are limitless, and we are eager to explore them with you. How to build personalized VIP experience for every visitor by utilizing location data? How can we streamline the visitor experience to know what we have, what we want and what we would like? Let’s assume we have the exact location of the visitors at our disposal and visitor’s personal information and utilize that to personalize the experience for the users. Join the project to create the demonstration of next-generation personalized event experience. If you are interested in events, software, positioning tech, data analytics, UX or visual visual design, this is the project for you!

Garage as a Service
Traditional car leasing models are growing in popularity. At the same time there have been many trials for different car sharing solutions. We are interested in concepting a service for high-end car brands that offer flexibility and luxury for the customers through a “Garage as a Service”. Instead of leasing one car for 4 years, you could have the flexibility to change the vehicle based on your current needs and change the car at a centralized garage periodically. Is your family growing? Go and change for a bigger car. Want to enjoy the summer in convertible? Go and get the coolest convertible available! How would you productize and design this kind of “garage” service? How could you leverage the trends of hyperpersonalization, sustainability and ease of maintenance in this kind of concept? How would the service be presented to the customers and what would be the “terms of service”? In this project we assume money is not the issue for the customers. Join this project if you are interested in car industry, new business models, service design, visual design or marketing!

Journalism In Metaverse
In the never-ending fight against mis- and disinformation, reliable news and quality journalism are more important than ever. The problem for traditional news is the interface; whether digital articles or physical news papers, it is extremely hard to offer the reader enough context and sources to fully validate the authenticity and trustworthiness. This leaves lots of space for mis- and disinformation to look just as convincing as the real news. What if we could offer near limitless amounts of sources, background and context for the readers? We want to build demos in metaverse environment to see what kind of user experience would enable transparent journalism in the future. How would a news article in metaverse look like? How much can we utilize the limitless space and different dimensions to visualize the news for the readers? Can we mix different mediums (text, audio, video, etc…) together to create completely new kind of news reading experience? We are looking for students interested in software engineering, game design, journalism, metaverse or UX design.

Sports That Jump Out Of The Screen
Many sports broadcasts are produced with very high quality compared to times a few decades ago. Fans at home can enjoy their experience through advanced statistics, multi-camera feeds and other delicacies delivered real-time. Simultaneously, XR (extended reality) technologies and AI have taken a major leap, so could they be harnessed for even further immersive viewing experience? What if your living room was turned into a proper “war room” with XR? see example: https://demola.net/link/sportsxr. What kind of value-adding visualizations could be made for fans who want to take the viewing experience to the next level? This project continues from a concept by a previous Demola team, whose concept is illustrated in the picture above. Aim is to create tangible concepts for sports broadcasts and take the demonstration as far as the team’s ambition reaches. Join us to make the future of sports come alive!

Kuka? Mikä Demola? Missä?
(ENG: As our hubs in Finland are growing in numbers, we thought it would be nice to give a brief introduction to Demola’s innovation projects also in Finnish. Please click "In English" for the English translation.) Demola-projekteja on tehty Suomessa jo vuodesta 2008, ja kansainvälisen osallistujajoukkomme ansiosta työkielemme on aina ollut englanti. Vaikka työkieleemme ei ole tullut muutosta, Suomessa olevien hubiemme eli paikallisten toimipisteidemme kasvaessa ajattelimme, että pieni paketti Demolasta suomeksi olisi paikallaan. Tässä siis lyhyt katsaus Demola-projekteista toisella kotimaisella kielellämme.
